Apply to become AAFC Staff
The AAFC has a ‘constrained establishment’ set by Air Force which operates on a national and squadron basis and means that limits are set on the numbers of cadets and staff.
This means that not every person who wishes to support the AAFC can be appointed as an Instructor or Officer of Cadets.
To meet the need for adequate staff intake the AAFC have created categories titled ‘Civilian Instructor’ along with ‘ADF Support’. Click the Civilian Instructor or ADF Support buttons to the right for additional information.
Applicants who are appointed as Civilian Instructors may be selected for appointment as Instructors or Officers of Cadets following additional suitability checking and training.
How to express interest in becoming a Civilian Instructor
Click the Find a Squadron button on the right to locate you nearest squadron.
You may also consider appointment at a Regional (Wing) Headquarters as some positions are virtual and do not require weekly attendance at the Headquarters.
Click the Expression of Interest button on the right and complete the Expression of Interest Form.
Note: Applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age to start the application process.
A Recruitment Officer will contact you to arrange an interview. This is an initial interview to discuss your expression of interest and to provide you an opportunity to ask any questions as to expectations of you as a Civilian Instructor. The interview may be conducted by phone.
You may be offered an appointment if a position is available. If no position is available you will be placed on a staff waiting list and a Recruitment Officer will update you regularly as to positions which become available.
