What is the Australian Air Force Cadets?The Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) is a voluntary youth organisation sponsored by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Adult instructors get the opportunity to train and develop young people in subjects such as aviation, leadership, instructional technique, fieldcraft, firearms training and teamwork. |

Who is Eligible to become an Adult Instructor?Vacancies for Adult Instructors within the Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) are open to all Australian Citizens or permanent residents subject to the policy determined by Air Force and published within the AAFC Policy Manual AAP5110.001 (AMI).
Applicants need to possess a sufficient broad knowledge of aviation and associated subjects to be able to positively contribute to AAFC activities.
Members of the Navy, Army or Air Force (Permanent or Active Reserve elements) may be appointed to the AAFC. Non-commissioned members of these forces may not be appointed as AAFC officers. No AAFC adult is to have dual mess status.
Instructor applicants must be at least 18 years of age and Officer applicants must be at least 19 years of age.
Security RequirementsTo be eligible for appointment as an AAFC Instructor or Officer, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Receive favourable clearance from the Australian Federal Police in response to the Police Records Check and Working with Children check, which you will be required to complete during the application process.
Medical RequirementsThe applicant is to be medically fit and able to carry out the normal range of activities without the risk or detriment to themselves or others. Applicants must undergo a medical examination using the AAFC Medical Examination Record, which can be obtained from the AAFC Resource centre.
Psychological TestingAll applicants must undergo a psychological examination to determine their suitability for appointment to the AAFC. Current policy is to conduct psychological testing at a location convenient to applicants wherever possible.
Senior First Aid CertificateAll staff members of the AAFC must hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate. This is a prerequisite at the time of application.
Membership of Other Cadet ForcesThe applicant is not to be a member of the Australian Navy Cadets (ANC) or Australian Army Cadets (AAC).
Code of ConductMembers wishing to join the AAFC will need to sign the Code of Conduct if they want to join and remain in the Australian Defence Force Cadets. |
