Cadet Sergeant Patrick Allen will attend the Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge in September, retracing the steps of Australian service personnel along the Kokoda Track. CSGT Allen, who has been a member of 313 (City of Dubbo) Squadron since 2010, is being sponsored by the Dubbo RSL Sub-Branch. He is one of only 25 young people from across Australia to be selected to participate, and beat a field of almost 50 applicants to be one of only 2 chosen from Central Western NSW.
The Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge aims to give participants a respect for the sacrifice made by Australian service personnel, an appreciation of core leadership skills, and an understanding of the value of community service. It is a physically and mentally demanding program, with all participants required to attain a high level of physical and medial fitness prior to attending. Supporters of the program include RSL & Services Clubs, ClubsNSW, and Thomsons Lawyers.
