Like many in the Australian Air Force Cadets community, Anzac Day is a family affair for the Cook family. This year, Squadron Leader (AAFC) Darren Cook participated in the Auburn RSL Dawn Service with his son Cadet Sergeant Robert Cook, along with nearly 80 members of 307 (City of Bankstown) Squadron.
“My father proudly did his national service with the RAAF in the 1950s, and my grandfather fought with the 2nd AIF during the Second World War,” said Squadron Leader (AAFC) Cook. “To have my son in uniform beside me on this important day was very special.”
Cadet Sergeant Robert Cook, who aspires to join the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) when he finishes school, said “I think it’s very important for young Australians to remember the sacrifices made by people who have served in the Australian Defence Force.”
