It seems every time you visit a Defence Base nowadays, there’s yet another new simulator that has come online to train personnel.
F111, Hawk, KC30A, loadmaster, C17 Cargo, C17, Heron, FA18, C130, Tiger, MRH90, Blackhawk, Javelin, WTSS, Night Vision Centre, Fire, Warship bridge (HMAS Watson) are only some that come to mind.
One of the more recent simulators that’s come on line is at the Health Operational Conversion Unit (HOCU).
On a simulation mannequin (SIMMAN) nursing staff are able to practice and perform vital medical procedures like airway manoeuvres etc.
The true to life mannequin can be programmed to simulate a pulse and heart beat and even squirt blood as well as vomit.
