There was a major milestone during last week’s gliding course – the first 2WG cadet to solo in a new RAAF purchased DG 1000 Glider.
The first solo in 2WG in DG 1000 glider VH-NGY, was completed by CCPL Chris Jesse from 217 SQN on Saturday 05/07/14. This was CCPL Jesse’s first course with 229FLT at Warwick.
2WG has held one of the most successful round of activities in recent times with 7 full cadet wings being awarded to cadets (1 gliding and 6 power) at the just completed power and gliding EFTC activities. Over 250 hours and 450 sorties were flown between the combined power and gliding flights. Additionally, a number of first solo achievements were recorded in addition to the above mentioned DG1001 solo.
The photos below are of Chris’s landing and being congratulated by the CFI, Mike Maddocks.
