The Gold Coast skyline provided a beautiful backdrop for the visit of the Air Force Balloon to the Gold Coast Show. Unfortunately the fresh breeze was just too strong to inflate the Air Force Balloon. However, the crew caught some magnificent photos of the Gold Coast on two mornings when they flew from the hinterland to the coast.
Over 60000 people patronise the 3 day show.
Staff and cadets of the Gold Coast Squadrons were given an overview of the RAAF Balloon’s purpose and operation. The 3 day visit of the RAAF Balloon to the Gold Coast was an initiative of AAFC’s Cadet Support Directorate, as a value add to 213, 221 and 222’s recruitment display stand that was set up at the Gold Coast Show. The GC SQNs also included as a part of their display a aircraft fuselage complete with the instrument panel which proved very popular with the young. Their wild imaginations helped to make their experience ‘life like’ as well as thrilling.
Well done Gold Coast!
