As part of the 100th Anniversary of WW1, Parramatta City Council is sponsoring a celebratory event on Sunday 24th May 2015. This is the exact day that an armistice took place 100 years ago, to allow both sides, the Turkish and the Australian and New Zealand forces to retrieve their wounded and killed men. Funds raised will go towards the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, affecting returned service men and their families.
This event is a family participation day entitled the Anzac Parra-Amble. It is a fun discovery walk to answer questions around Parramatta by visiting all the sites with reference to 1915 and the aftermath of the Great War in celebration of the 100 years of the Anzac Spirit.
In addition to the Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) participation in ANZAC Day services, they are contributing to this worthwhile cause while enthusiastically displaying their AAFC spirit.
We will have representatives situated at the designated starting and finishing points for the event cheering and supporting our members along.
The pictures display some of the landmarks that are included in the ANZAC Parra-Amble. The cadets included in the photos are Leading Cadets James Hersey, Patrick Hersey, Mathew Lee, Carle Mansbridge, Krysten Porter, Ebony Taylor, Willow Taylor, Ben Van Ommen Kloeke, Sarah Van Ommen Kloeke, Samuel Verceluz, Cadet Trai Waddell, and Leading Aircraftman (AAFC) Chris Mahoney.
