I am very pleased to announce that Number 8 Wing (Australian Air Force Cadets) in the Northern Territory was awarded the Air Force Trophy for the first time in 2015.
Number 8 Wing has squadrons in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine (Tindal) and Alice Springs and has a strength of approximately 150 cadets and 20 staff.
The Air Force Trophy was established in 1989 and is contested annually by the eight Wings of the Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC). The award of the trophy is considered against criteria that assesses each Wing and their level of administration, training, recruiting, adaptability and safety performance, community involvement and participation in Air Force Cadet events.
The winner of the Air Force Trophy is also honoured with the custodianship of the AAFC National Banner for the following year.
I congratulate all the hard working Cadets, Instructors and Staff of Number 8 Wing on this recognition of your achievements. Thank you for your passion and dedication – well done to all of you.
