Firstly the 80th Anniversary logo competition team would like to thank all the entrants for the time and effort put into their entries.
We had over seventy five entries from across seven of the eight wings that make up the AAFC, with XXX votes cast by our current Cadet group to select their favourite of the shortlist.
Congratulations to the winner as voted by our cadets:
Cadet Sergeant Charlotte O’Sullivan – No 403 Squadron (Beaconsfield, VIC)
Description accompanying entry: This 80th Logo symbolises our Indigenous heritage “PAST” by way of the aboriginal art design on the “8” using the symbols for family, as well as clouds and stars which incorporate our aviation space. Colours of the AAFC are represented in the “8” with the light blue background with navy highlights. Diversity, innovation and also equality are represented by the various colours in the triangles in the “0” which represents “FUTURE” and came from the original logo. The aviation/military style theme is represented by the Diamond DA40 aircraft which also symbolises “PRESENT” tying the two numbers together. *Air Force Cadets: can be displayed on top of the numbers in Navy on a white background, or white on a navy background.
Congratulations to the Second and Third place finalists.
Leading Cadet Sienna Head – No 219 Squadron (Archerfield, QLD)
Description accompanying entry: I have included 3 simplistic colours throughout my design, as they are the colours that the AAFC and the RAAF use (white, red, light blue and dark blue). The aircraft in the logo are travelling upwards which represents the ‘future’ as it shows that the AAFC is moving onwards and upwards. I used the cursive font when writing “Past. Present. Future.” as it helps include the element of formality. Overall, this design stands out and will be immediately identifiable.
Second Runner Up
Acting Cadet Corporal Michael Dillen – No 336 Squadron (Richmond, NSW)
Description accompanying entry: My design represents the 80th Anniversary of a modern and diverse Australian Air Force Cadets which understands its past, including culture and looks forward to our exciting future. Both flying objects, the boomerang and F-35A are “flying weapons”, which links us to our culture, past and future. I would be happy to make modifications to my design if required. I created my logo using two applications of which are Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
