GPCAPT(AAFC) Paul Gregory
Group Captain (AAFC) Paul Gregory joined the Air Training Corps (ATC) as a Cadet at No 18 Flight Mascot, Sydney on 14 April 1963. His Cadet service ended as a Cadet Warrant Officer when he was appointed to the Citizen Air Force (RAAF Reserve) on 21 June 1968 with the rank of Aircraftman in the General Hand mustering.
Paul was posted to part-time duties with the Air Training Corps at No 27 Flight Millers Point Sydney, then later back to No 18 Flight at Mascot. When commissioned on 09 August 1971as Pilot Officer in the Special Duties Administration Branch, he was posted to No 2 Flight Sydney Technical High School, Bexley.
While at No 2 Flight, Paul was promoted Flying Officer - and the ATC was disbanded by the government of the day. However, in 1975, the Australian Services Cadet Scheme was raised, the ATC became known as the AIRTC, and following promotion to Pilot Officer (AIRTC), Paul became a Flight Commander with the New South Wales Squadron Air Training Corps.
He was promoted Flight Lieutenant (AIRTC) in 1981, and in July 1984, was appointed Supply Assistant 1 at New South Wales Air Training Corps headquarters; and then just over a year later, to Staff Officer Supply in September 1985, with the rank of Squadron Leader (AIRTC).
Seeing in 1991 the need for a legal entity to control construction of an aviation facility at Camden, and as a general vehicle for the management of non-public moneys, Paul Gregory established the NSW Air Training Corps Association Incorporated, and was its Public Officer between 1991-2004.
In 2001, the Air Training Corps (AIRTC) was renamed the Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC).
From 1987-2004, Paul rotated through senior leadership team appointments at No 3 Wing headquarters (New South Wales). This included serving as Executive Officer for three Officers Commanding from May 1997 until September 2004, when he was promoted Wing Commander (AAFC) and appointed Officer Commanding of No 3 Wing.
In September 2009, Paul was appointed Officer Commanding Logistics Support Wing at the Australian Air Force Cadets National Headquarters. In 2010, he was then appointed inaugural Director Logistics; and in May 2012, became the Deputy Commander.
Four years later on 21 June 2016, Paul Gregory was promoted Group Captain (AAFC) and appointed Commander of the Australian Air Force Cadets.
Paul has completed formal studies as Master of Commerce (Land Economy) and Master of Dispute Resolution. He is a former Fellow of the Australian Property Institute and Real Estate Institute of New South Wales and a Registered Real Estate Valuer. Paul is married with four adult sons and seven grandchildren.
